We had the opportunity to start our trip down in Winston Salem with our soon to be daughter-in-law Hannah, Konner, and her parents Alex & Katherine. What a lovely family! Got quite a few pre-wedding list items checked off and got to play golf along the way. That dude in the front has a BIG head. The guy in the back is really tall. 😁
So in the camping world you would call what we did moochdocking (staying at someone's house and using their electricity and water for trailer). We did one better....Alex and Katherine opened up their house to us. I guess you would call that Mooch Glamping? Either way, they have a beautiful house!
The Jungs took us out Saturday to explore the city. Winston Salem has a long history of textile milling and tobacco. Both Haynes and Champion started here. Didn't know RJ Reynolds tobacco also was Reynolds Aluminum (family split off). The city has been renovating for the past 10+ years and has eclectic restaurants and breweries. We hit a couple on Saturday and Kami made her Charcuterie board.
Best part of the weekend was seeing Konner and Hannah before we roll on. Next stop, Ashville. Our friends, Dave & Jenn DesRoches, will be there celebrating their youngest, Michael, graduating from FSU. Go HOKIES! Had to put the plug in there.
Sounds like a great start to a great trip.
